One of my customer's has me looking for interesting cars that need a little mechanical work to fix up and sell, not necessarily for profit, fun is the main driver, then an attempt to at least break even. On that note I suggested this 2008 Microcar MC2 (SEi, if you can believe it) that I spotted in the Spares or Repairs section on a popular auction site. Long story short, he went for it and the vendor, a tiny car specialist, dropped it off today. They'd taken it in as a part exchange, it's missing the rear brake calipers (yes, discs at the back) and exhaust but I've ordered replacements from West View Garage in Selby, an agent for these back in the day, they had everything in stock. In France they were limited to a Kubota diesel engine and 45kph, West View suggested more was needed so a Lombardini 2 cylinder 505cc fuel injected petrol was installed, raising the top speed to over 60mph. The rest of the car remained the same so caution is advised whilst driving but I have to say I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like on the road. It'll be my first drive of a variomatic type gearbox too. Once it's fixed and MoT tested it'll be up for sale so watch this space if you're up for some quirk.
