My Jaguar, getting some attention

When I was last under my Jaguar S-Type I spotted a couple of things at the rear that would be an MoT failure so I SORNed it in early August and finally got it into the workshop on Monday. I've been wanting to replace the custom exhaust system for a while, the back boxes are really too big for the space, the cut out valves rattle and the take-offs for the straight through pipes have been rusting away for a while so the first job was to get that out of the way. The upper control arm ball joint gaiters were both split, when I removed the upper and lower control arms I found worn bushings, ball joints and drop links, no wonder it was starting to drive itself from the back. It's also going to need new discs and pads, the caliper pins were seized and the discs are worn unevenly. So far so normal, I then thought I'd try knocking some of the surface rust off the subframe and unfortunately found it went a little deeper than that. I didn't really expect to be at this stage with the entire subframe out and stripped down but there was really no other option. Now comes the hard bit, there are no new subframes available for this car and no used ones for the model year (2002 on and it's ok). The S-Type is based on a Lincoln LS so I started looking in the US and came up with an as new condition one from a 2002 Ford Thunderbird, also based on the Lincoln. I am hoping to own it this evening, a friend is going to buy it as eBay won't let me if I am not over there. The price is excellent, the expense is all going to be in the shipping. I have a feeling this is going to take a while and the cost is going to add up but the car owes me nothing and deserves a little attention. I'm already looking forward to driving it again, I miss it already.
