Sizaire Freres 4RI update

It's been a while since I made any mention of the Sizaire Freres 4RI renovation, it's been a bit of a roller coaster so far. Making up and fitting a wiring loom and mounting stop, tail & indicator lamps has been the most straightforward job, although it take a bit of thought and planning. SOrting the engine has been a bit more troublesome, the main bearings needed new white metal, I sent the engine down to Formhalls and whilst it was there they went out of business. That meant a short notice trip to Downton and finding another place to do the work (Chase Engines in Stoke, good people) but that wasn't the end of it. The bores are also worn so new 77mm pistons are being made (originals are 76mm) but as the manufacturer is very busy it was not possible to expedite the job so another delay has crept in. Once I have the pistons I can have the block bored to fit and I'll be able to make a start on the rebuild. I'm also having some new head gaskets made but even that's been a problem, it's turning out to be a lot more complicated than the fabricator thought, another delay. The suspension, frame, gearbox & differential all look ok so other than inspection and lubrication where required there's not much else to do here. I'll be getting the brake drums re-lined, John at Norfolk Brake & Clutch has just done this for me for the other Sizaire Freres I had in so it should be easier this time. And now for the attached photo, there are not many car parts that come into the workshop looking like this. The floor of the car has been rather poorly fabricated from a mid-century sideboard so today I took a drive over to British Hardwoods in Keighley and picked up some rough cut planks of English ash. They will need to be planed down to 20mm and cut into as big a plank as I can get from each and then made to fit the various openings. I've also got to find a method of securing them to the frame, there don't seem to be any mounting holes so I might go with "Budget" locks, correctly located they'll engage with the frame rails. Hopefully.
