VW Beetle 1500 in the workshop

Seems there's a Volkswagen thing going on at the moment, this Beetle 1500 hasn't been run for a while so I'm to make it start and stop and then someone else can deal with what's under the skin. The fact that there's no low tension wire between the coil and distributor might be an issue but I don't know how long it's been since it was running so I'll be going through the fuel system as well as the ignition.
