TVR Grantura in the workshop

What a delight, an early TVR Grantura was dropped off this morning for a little work. And by early I do mean it, it's registered as a 1959 but the chassis number in the buff logbook is listed as "NIL". Not seen that before. It was originally fitted with a Coventry Climax engine, then had a TR5 6 cylinder shoehorned in for a while and is now taking advantage of an Ivor Searle built 1800 B-series. It's used extensively for classic rallying and touring all over Europe but the last time it went out the VW Beetle based front suspension developed a fault. I've stripped both corners and it looks like the left side lower control arm has seized in the tube and might have snapped the torsion strips. As the torsion bars are original I am going to replace all of them, front and back, just to be sure. I've also got to rebuild the brake master as it looks as if LHM has been used in an emergency and it's ruined the seals. When the Triumph engine was fitted the original steering box was replaced with a rack, I imagine for the space, but that has led to a rather ridiculously angled steering wheel and some rather uncomfortable bump-steer. I have a feeling it might be best to try and get the original Ford derived steering box back in, the angles on the track rods look all wrong with the rack and this might be the cause of the bump-steer.
