Triumph TR6 in the workshop

I've had this TR6 in before, that time it was to replace a couple of the o-rings in the fuel metering unit. This time it's to tighten up the steering column (a couple of loose nuts behind the dash) and work out why the overdrive has packed up. The relay and overdrive solenoid tested fine so it had to be in the switched side of the relay, through that on the column and on to the 2nd gear and 3rd/4th gear switches in the gearbox. After a bit of tightening up of the column switch everything tested ok up to the wires that go through the transmission cover so that meant removing a seat, the carpets and the cover itself. It was worth doing, the bolt that secures the earth wire from the switches was loose, when tightened up it all worked fine. I'm going to replace the original but rather tatty cover with a plastic one, other than that it's just a matter of putting it all back together.
