I've been putting some time in on the Triumph TR6 job and today it fired up for the first time. The engine was found to be in pretty poor condition, a lot of it had never been apart before. I had the crankshaft gound and block bored out and it's got new bearings, pistons, valves, guides, springs, timing gears & chain and various smaller parts. The owner got a set of refurbished throttle bodies from Fred Millturn, they were shipped ready assembled and engine tested so all I had to do was bolt them one and hook them up. They also supplied an excellent choke modification and all new throttle brackets, everything of the highest quality. I finished the assembly a couple of weeks ago and finished off the fitting, and fixing whatever else it needed, last week. Today it was just a matter of fitting the plugs and wires, filling the sump and cooling system, and firing it up, which it did once the air was out of the fuel injection system. A test drive and a check of the fluid levels and it should be good to go.
