Mustang engine rebuild

It's been a few months since I talked about the Mustang engine so here's an update. I found that, basically, it needed everything. The crankshaft needed grinding, cylinders re-boring and new pistons just for starters. I stripped it right down and cleaned it up enough to deliver it to my machine shop, it was pretty filthy and I want to stay friends with them. The block has been bored out 0.030" and honed to match the pistons, the crankshaft has been taken down 0.010" and the whole assembly has been balanced. The cylinder heads have had hardened seats installed and the rocker stud holes have been threaded for the new roller rocker type. Mating surfaces have been skimmed, new cam bearings have been fitted. It came back this week and I already had all the parts on the shelf so I've been able to start the assembly. The owner bought a full kit to raise the hp and torque but without affecting the driveability. That means a slightly hotter cam, new valve gear & cam followers, roller rockers and a four-barrel intake manifold and carburettor (rather than the original two-barrel). I'll also be fitting a new oil pump, aluminium water pump, engine mounts and I've got a full kit of new ARP bolts for anything that bolts to the outside. So far I've got the cam, crankshaft, pistons/rods, timing gear and oil pump fitted. Next week I'll paint and build up the heads, it won't be long till I'm putting it back in the car.
