MGC all done

The MGC that came in last week is ready to go home. The inspection revealed it to be quite a good car that had been well maintained over the many years in its current ownership. At the same time the fact that it had been sitting for a while also showed. Getting it running on 6 was just a matter of cleaning the spark plugs, keeping it running meant a slight adjustment of the mixture and idle. The suspension and drivetrain looked ok but the front brakes needed discs (unevenly worn on the inside) and pads (worn out). These parts came from Moss, along with a new stainless exhaust system which bolted on rather nicely and significantly improves how it sounds. That just left an oil & filter change and the replacement of the coolant, the last was easier said than done as the block drain tap needed to be stripped on the car and the sludge that was sitting behind it poked out with some bowden cable. I enjoyed the test drive a lot, certainly it feels heavier than a B but it also feels more solid and planted. likely due to the additional strengthening around the front suspension and the lower forward section of the body. You can feel the extra cylinders as you move up through the gears and it just lopes along in overdrive top. I like it.
