E-type Series 1 FHC gone home
With the work complete on the Series 1 FHC E-type the owner came and picked it up today. We decided to fit a spin on oil filter conversion, a straightforward job, and I replaced the sagging engine mounts. There was a bit of a coolant leak from the front of the engine, seemingly from the thermostat outlet. I removed the thermostat housing and found it was seriously corroded and someone had used body filler to smooth it all out, the coolant was seeping under and around the filler. A new housing, gasket & top hose have been fitted and that has sorted it. Other than fresh oil and a thorough check that was really all it needed - overall a very nice car indeed.
