Derby Bentley in the workshop

I've been looking after this Bentley 3.5 for a while now, it doesn't usually need much and that was the case this time. The owner is taking it on a road trip and checked most everything himself, the only issue being with the headlamps, the offside was stuck in the dipped position, the nearside stuck on main beam. These lamps are dipped by a solenoid that tilts the lens assembly away from the default main beam position, I removed both lens assemblies and found both solenoids had issues with electrical contacts, exacerbated by the mica base board on the solenoids being warped. Another function of the solenoid is, when engaged, to break the main high current 'pulling' coil and make a connection for a low current 'holding' coil, adjusting the actuator to carry this out correctly took a few tries but now both lamps operate as they should.
