In the spirit of continuous improvement the owner fo the Corvette C4 I look after dropped it off on Friday with a view to me finding out why the engine was so noisy. Removing the serpentine belt and spinning the ancillary pulleys showed the water pump to be the primary suspect with some additional help from the AIR pump. Today I replaced the water pump and fitted a new belt and it is a lot quieter.
