This week one of my customers asked me to go and take a look at a Bentley R-Type he was thinking of buying. It was for sale with a dealer in Cheshire, not so far away, and from the photos and description it sounded ok. Unfortunately, as with so many cars, up close it was really not so good, blue paint was blistered, door bottoms rusty, engine bay was a mess. I found out through one of my contacts that the asking price was nearly double what the dealer bought it for and nothing had been done to the car in the interim, it hadn't even had any fuel put in the tank. If you are thinking of buying any kind of car I would always recommend you send an inspector, or take them with you, someone with no emotional or financial interest will have clearer eyes.
