Austin Metropolitan in the workshop

Having only ever read about these it's rather nice to have a Metropolitan come through the workshop so I could see one up close. It's a recent purchase for the owner, he's having me look it over and also work through a list of faults he's already uncovered. I'll be replacing the rather tired and weak dynamo with a Dynamator, that way there'll be no need to convert to negative earth. The original bench seat has been replaced with some badly trimmed buckets from an MGB but they are so dangerously mounted I'm going to suggest refitting the bench. The heater has been bypassed but it's also missing the fan and the lower housing that handles the routing, screen or interior. Initial searches seem to show that parts are more widely available in the US so I might be looking in that direction for some of what's needed. There will be work on the brake master cylinder, electrics, washers (missing again) and whatever else I uncover.

She takes a good photo!
